THE MEMORIAL GARDEN AT RUST PARK

On Tuesday, June 14th, 2022 (Flag Day), we'll be dedicating a Gold Star By-Way Memorial marker at Rust Park.  The Gold Star Program is sponsored by the National Garden Clubs, Inc. with the objective of providing support to those who have lost a loved one in service to our country.

In addition to the Dedication Ceremony, there will be a Garden Walk either before or after for those interested.

While the agenda has not yet been finalized, the dedication, which is scheduled for 6pm, will go something like this (I put the items you are assisting with in CAPS):

As guests arrive:

- music by Jerry and Mary

Just before 6pm:

- patriotic song like the National Anthem

At 6pm:

- welcome and introduction of officials

- PRESENTATION OF COLORS

- invocation

- PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

- history of Gold Star Memorial markers

- MILITARY OR GOLD STAR TRIBUTE

- unveiling of marker

- dedication of marker

- tribute of flowers

- closing

- TAPS

I'll provide the "common" content for the press release later in April.

Also, I forgot to mention, that the Grand Blanc Garden Club is looking for someone(s) from the VFW or any military family to assist with the care of the Memorial Garden at Rust Park. There is very little work required.  The garden surrounds the flag pole and the existing Lt. Rust Memorial.  Please share my name and cell number to any possible prospects.
